Why I love to work out at home

I’ve always been a big fan of working out from home, something about the ease of it and also looking silly without fear of judgement from others. I also just didn’t get on with sports at school, hockey and netball were not my vibe. So, I’d do dance videos or workouts from home instead - I’m talking Darrin’s Dance Grooves VHS where I learned the dance to Britney Spears Crazy and Nsync Bye, Bye, Bye circa 2002 (showing my age here…!), moving to Tracey Anderson (legend) and as I got older the Davina workout DVDs and I had the OG version of Kayla Itsines’ BBG. I didn’t sign up to a gym until I was in my late 20’s when I was living in Australia and loved the healthy lifestyle there, plus I lived in a city and the gym was right next to my work so was super convenient for me – I’m all about an easy life!

After the initial, ‘I have no idea what I’m doing or how to use any of the machines’ I quite enjoyed going to the gym; having a separate space to exercise, seeing the regulars, and trying different things, but in between having to wait for machines (January new year new me vibes), travelling there, finding a park, cost, and then breaking my collar bone and the pandemic, I reverted back to my happy space of exercising from home and still love it today. I know lots of other people prefer to workout at home too and that was one of the reasons I created PWJ Online.

Here are 4 reasons why you should move at home:

Choice

You choose what workout you want to do (that’s not defined by what machines are free), the length of the workout without having to factor in travel time, the music (most important), all depending on how you’re feeling that day.

Cost

Working out from home is just fundamentally more cost effective. You have a ridic amount of choice (PWJ Online for example covers strength, cardio, stretching and relaxation), all for a fraction of the price of a gym. PWJ Online best deal is the annual membership and works out at 55p a day! Plus add into that saving money on fuel/parking/general transport.

You have everything you need!

No chance of forgetting your towel or headphones, you have everything you need right there with you without having to pack a bag. No queuing for the shower, or hair dryer either!

Time

We are all so busy with normal life, running around after the kids/fur babies, work, life admin etc, I want to be able to squeeze in a 20/30 min workout without having to wait around or travel anywhere. Working out from home gives you this option; 2am and you’ve just walked in from your shift – yes, 12pm on your lunchbreak while you wfh – yes, 5pm on a Friday after work for 30 mins before you go to the pub – yes!
